I don’t know, for some reason I’ve been drawn to desert painting lately. In looking through my reference photos, I look for images that read well with just a few large shapes. This fit the bill. I remember thinking “spots of color” (after Hawthorne), because I’m trying to forget what I”m painting and just paint the visual stimulus.

This one is appearing a bit saturated on my monitor (it’s so damn difficult to photograph art properly AND get it to appear right online). I tried to capture the intensity of the light, and play that against the distant grays of the nearby cliffs. Enjoy!
