This has been an exhausting week, but I learned a lot. The painting on the left is my last effort, which I think is a big improvement over the week. Click the image on the left to see details/enlarge. I’m going to add a few things (eg, light reflected off the bottle), but it’s near done. Ovanes was very happy with the color harmony and painting overall of the milk jub and the lower right fruit. Ovanes did feel that the table top was too warm; the green cup was getting a little chalky; and the blue and green container in the back was a bit too broken.Perhaps over the next weeks, depending upon interest (enter comments if you’re reading this blog!), I’ll include screen shots of how I’m applying his process, showing things I wasn’t able to photograph in his studio.

Quite special to have such a first hand account, I followed it with interest.
This last painting is very interesting as well, because of the thickness of the paint and the use of colour.
Would be nice with some screen shots, also perhaps to complete the story from the workshops?
Unfortunately, Ovanes wouldn’t allow photography of his demos. So, I intend to photograph a demo of a painting I’ll do using his technique. Although my painting won’t of course approach his, it will at least help to see the stages and process. I hope to get to that in the next few weeks…

I photographed a complete demo yesterday. If I have time tonight, I’ll post the sequence–assuming the photographs I took outside came out okay.

The last painting you posted has a Charles Sovek look. I was wondering if the workshop teacher has a similar style of painting?
