Wow, I can’t believe it’s been almost a month since I blogged last! I’ve never gone this long. Mike and I just returned from a Mediterranean Cruise. I decided last minute not to take my MacBook…yet another thing to carry and worry about, so I just took my sketchbook and a camera.
After a hectic 9 days at sea, we spent 4 restful days in Venice, just walking around, buying art and eating in cafes. Ah, it was super. I’m glad to be back, though, as my work at Wells is actually really fun (more on that later, a cool project to tell you about next week).
Back to Venice. San Francisco’s weather today was clouded in an uninspiring, so I did this painting in my studio from an image on my Mac. I did get some nice photos on the trip, so look for studio work to show up here over time.
welcome back Ed
i would have stayed there, judging by your painting, absolutely beautiful!!!
Nice to see you back!
I was wondering what happened to you.
So great to have ya back, Ed!
By the way, this painting is absolutely wonderful.
Good to see you back, Ed. You were definetely missed !
Ed, another nice one. I really like the composition and the punchy bold colour. You’ve got some nice brushwork going on too, really like the way the leaves are done. It must have been a great trip!!
cheers, Mike
Nice to see you back – I remembered you said you were planning to go to Venice later in the year and thought that must be where you’d got to. Did you see the Singer Sargent exhibition?
I’m looking forward to seeing what you’re going to be working up from the sketches and photos.
I love the colors in this piece. Wonderful!
And welcome back.
@everyone: thanks for the welcome home! i am here this week, then I am off to Central California for the San Luis Obispo show/competition, where I will post daily updates of work for the show.
Pleaae check-in then, as I’d love to get feedback from the group on selecting paintings for the show.
Cheers!
@Katherine: unfortunately, we missed the Sargent show. We thought about going, but really ended up spending all of our time relaxing and exploring Venice at a slow pace.
